Navidi's Brown Butter and Applewood Smoked Salt Blondies

Yield: 16 squares


• 1 cup flour

• 1 cup packed brown sugar

• 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips 

• 1/2 cup butter + additional for greasing pan

• 2 eggs

• 1 teaspoon Navidi's Applewood Smoked Salt

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• 3/4 teaspoon baking soda

Directions:  Preheat oven to 350F.  Melt 1/2 cup butter in saucepan over medium-low heat.  Cook until past foaming stage when butter starts to get a nice golden color and develop some golden pieces on bottom.  Remove from heat and beat together in large bowl with brown sugar for several minutes.  Add eggs and beat several minutes more.  Mix in vanilla.  In separate bowl, whisk together flour, 3/4 tsp Navidi's Applewood Sea Salt and baking soda.  Add flour to butter-sugar-egg mixture in 3 parts with beaters on low.  Add 3/4 cup chocolate chips and stir in by hand.  Transfer to a greased 9x9 pan and press remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips into top of batter and sprinkle remaining Applewood Sea Salt on top, too. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.  Let cool for 1 hr. before cutting into squares.  Enjoy!
